1. Raising awareness on the importance of selective collection, recycling and composting of biodegradable materials.
2. Strengthening the capacities of LPAs for securing legal compliance regarding waste and the implementation of an efficient SWM system in the locality.
3. Reducing the amount of solid waste reaching the landfill, by creating a minimum SWM infrastructure and the application of selective collection practices at the source. Activities planned: 100 resident participate in 1 public event; 1 survey on the opinion of 500 citizens on the quality of the public services offered by the LPA; 4 round tables on identification of an efficient waste management strategy; 1 local SWM plan drafted and 6 LPAs assisted in drafting SWM plans; 3000 students and teachers from 10 schools, from 6 localities, actively involved in the project and trained in the field of selective collection of solid waste; 6 awareness campaigns in 6 localities, targeting 40000 citizens;
10 educational institutions equipped with indoor and outdoor dumpsters.
