Water and sanitation
Improvement of water supply and
sanitation situation in Cahul town and its neighboring villages Cotihana and
Crihana Veche.
Reduction of water pollution and
preserve the groundwater in the South of Moldova, in line with the River Basin
Management Plan for the Danube-Prut and Black Sea District.
1. construction of a new water intake point for surface
water at the river Prut,
2. construction of a new pipeline from the water intake
point to the water treatment plant,
3. construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in
Cahul municipality,
4. rehabilitation of the existing water treatment plant,
5. Cahul town water and sewerage network extension including house
connections and rehabilitation of pumping stations, taking account of climate
change adaptation needs;
6. Cotihana water and sewerage network extension including
house connections and connection to Cahul, taking account of climate change
adaptation needs;
7. Establishment of sewer systems, including sewerage
network, house connections and waste water pumping stations for municipalities
of Crihana Veche, taking account of climate change adaptation needs and with
due attention to biodiversity conservation.
8. Enhancing operation and maintenance capacities of the Cahul Apa-Canal,
non-revenue water reduction (leak detection equipment, repair equipment);
